January 2021 Wrap Up

January is coming to an end and it was a strong month of reading. I genuinely enjoyed every book I read this month. Of course I started off my A Court of Thorns and Roses reread in preparation for A Court of Silver Flames releasing February 16, 2021. And I was also able to sneak in some romances this month since one of my goals this year is to read more romance. So without further ado, here’s my January in Books:

I have the first 2 in the series but I haven't started it yet... I need to work on that | Fantasy books to read, Roses book, Books

Shockingly, I was able to read 9 books this month! My goal was 6 books and I crushed it. I’m so proud of myself for being able to do so. I read any chance I got and well, it paid off. I read the WHOLE ACOTAR series this month. It was so fun going back and reliving everything. I’m pumped for ACOSF. Nesta was not my favorite character, I hated her when I first read ACOTAR. But rereading ACOWAR and ACOFAS helped me see a deeper layer to her. I’m hoping that I can understand her more in ACOSF, and maybe she’ll end up being a favorite of mine. I also read an ARC of The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna which releases February 9, 2021. You can read my review here.

I didn’t buy any books this month. The only book I added to my library was Deeper by Rilzy Adams. She offered the short story for free via her newsletter and I jumped at the chance to get it. It’s a continuation of one of my favorite 2020 reads, Go Deep.

Take A Hint, Dani Brown was my favorite book this month. I absolutely loved Zaf and Dani’s story. They both struggled with insecurities that prevented them from accepting love. I loved how they helped each other heal and face their fears. Talia Hibbert does a great job exploring the many facets of mental health and grief and how it can affect everyday life. The writing as amazing. The banter was quick-witted and hilarious, and the smut… yeah, I had to fan myself a few times. Talia definitely did not disappoint. The Brown Sisters series is turning out to be a quick favorite of mine. I gave Get A Life, Chloe Brown 4.5 out of 5 stars. And Act Your Age, Eve Brown, which is focused on the youngest Brown sister, releases in March 2021.

My least favorite read was Eight Naughty Nights: New Year’s Bae-Solutions by Nicole Falls. I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as my other reads.

My reading goal for 2021 is 30 books, but at the rate I’m going, I think I’ll be surpassing that very soon. I may have to increase it to 50 to challenge myself.

I hope everyone had a great reading month!
