Well, this is it guys, the last quarter of the year. We’re almost there to the finish line.

October WILL be a good month, a great month for me. I’m declaring it now. I want to read more and write more. I want to start something that I’ve been scared to do for quite some time. And it all begins now. Without further ado, here’s what’s going on in October:

I’m proud of myself for being consistent with this blog. I’m talking more about books I want to read and books that I have read. I feel like my review writing has been getting better with every post. Sometimes I don’t know how to put my thoughts into words, but it’s getting easier. I’ve started writing detailed notes while I read; notes to myself, notes to the characters even. It really helps me when I look back on all my thoughts, and compile them into a review. This month I want to stick to writing 8 blog posts. It’s easy for me to do two posts a week. This gives me enough time to write and edit my posts. And between working full time and reading, I need that extra time.

Again, I want to try and read 3 books this month. My reading challenge is going great and I’m confident that I will surpass it by the end of the year. I’m currently reading an ARC of Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. After I finish that, I would like to read Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maika and Maritza Moulite and Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyaasi. I don’t usually do monthly TBRs, but lately I found myself making a TBR for August and September and actually sticking to it. Look at me, evolving.

I started copy editing classes! Ever since I graduated college, I’ve been wondering and thinking what I wanted to do with my life. It’s been hard, truly. But I knew that I wanted to work with books. I’d be happy doing something involving books. The one thing I wanted from my future career was to be happy doing it. I thought one time that I could be a novelist, but I don’t think writing for a living is for me. However, when ever I finish a book, I love reading the acknowledgments. Seeing the amount of people it takes to put out a book always amazed me. I knew that I wanted to be one of those people one day. To help someone construct a story and put it out for other people to enjoy. That’s what I want to do. So, for a long time I researched how I could accomplish this. And finally, after all that time, I grew the confidence to start copy editing classes. It’s one thing I’m proud of myself for doing.

So that is what I have planned for the month of October. I plan on taking you guys on my copy editing journey. I’m eager to see what October and the rest of the year has in store for me.
