Book Series I’ve Started But Haven’t Finished

Hello readers! Like most of you, I have hundreds of books on my TBR. And among my TBR are sequels to series that I’ve started. Why haven’t I finished these series, you may ask. Well, there are multiple reasons for that. Below you’ll find my list of series that I’ve started but haven’t finished.

The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black

The Folk of the Air Series 3 Books Collection Set By Holly Black ...

I read The Cruel Prince back in January 2018 when it first came out. I enjoyed it and anticipated the sequel, The Wicked King. I had the intention of reading TWK right when it came out in 2019, but I told myself, “I should reread TCP because I remember nothing.” But that never happened and now it’s 2020 and The Queen of Nothing has been out for five months and I don’t know when I will ever return to this series.

The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare

Every year I usually choose a series to begin and complete. In 2019, the series I chose was The Mortal Instruments. I read the first three installments rather quickly. But I never made it to the fourth book, City of Fallen Angels. I think I got caught up in another book and forgot all about The Mortal Instruments. However, I haven’t completely shunned it away. I would love to one day finish the whole Shadowhunters Chronicles.

A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin

A Song of Ice and Fire - A Wiki of Ice and Fire

No one knows when GRRM will complete ASOIAF. Game of Thrones is one of my favorite TV shows (without counting season eight, we don’t talk about that one). In a rare instance, I began the book series well after I began the show. It didn’t bother me too much since there were A LOT of aspects from the books left out of the show. I read the first three books. And let me tell you, that’s easily a couple thousand pages, but I was hooked! So why did I stop? Maybe because the season-that-shall-not-be-named angered me so much left a bad taste in my mouth. Or maybe it’s because I now know how it somewhat ends, I just don’t feel like continuing.

Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi

This is one of the best series I have ever read, reveal me ...

I started the Shatter Me series seven years ago. It was 2013 and my love of reading came back to me in full force. I was reading all the YA books I could get my hands on when I came across the story of Juliette and her power to kill with a single touch. I was sucked into the first two installments. The third book, which I thought was the last, was not my favorite and the ending wasn’t great. Then book four came along four years later and I didn’t want to return to that world. But my curiosity is nudging me back, so maybe I’ll check it out.

Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon

Diana Gabaldon Outlander Series 8 Book Set (1- 8): Diana Gabaldon ...

First introduced to me as a TV series, Outlander was a cool historic, time-traveling story that I enjoyed. I decided to read and watch the series at the same time so it would be fresh in my mind when I watched new episodes. Like A Song of Ice and Fire, these books are extremely long; not to mention there are eight finished installments and a ninth on the horizon and I’ve only read half. I stopped watching the series recently, which focuses on book five. I got bored so I know I will definitely not be finishing this book series.
